To get a sense of Nancy Bernstein's consummate sense of style, you need look no further than her front door. Nancy's own homes have been featured in national publications for her ingenious use and expansion of space, her collaboration with renowned architects, and her seamless, innovative integration of interior and exterior design elements.

An avid traveler, Nancy's design work draws inspiration from around the globe and that, in turn, infuses her work with a distinctive, cosmopolitan flair. She considers her style to be transitional: moving somewhere between modern and traditional, with a preference for streamlined, calm, comfortable, sophisticated, contemporary décor that feels timeless yet incorporates unexpected elements to introduce drama or whimsy. While she has a strong stylistic sensibility, Nancy can work in any design genre and is careful not to overdesign, always wanting to leave room for a client's aesthetic to express itself fully.

Nancy works hand-in-hand with architects and contractors whenever possible to smooth the process for the client and enhance the flow and workability of the spaces she's designing. She also gives strong consideration to her clients' lifestyles, finding her previous experience as a parent of a busy household to be key in designing homes for families with children and pets. "A lot of people think of design as being essentially about how something looks, but in today's high-tech and fast-paced world, the function of space can be critical."

Nancy's known for her efficiency, attention to detail, and her easygoing, straightforward, upbeat manner. She sees her job as two-fold: delivering her clients a beautiful, fresh space and also a fun, relaxed experience creating it. "When a client is thrilled with not just the work we've done but with the process as well, that's the homerun."

Nancy's work has appeared in such prestigious publications as Modern Luxury, Traditional Home, Better Homes and Gardens' Décor, Building Ideas, Remodeling Ideas, Weekend Retreats, and Kid Spaces. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from the University of Michigan School of Art. For the last 34 years she has worked in the Chicago and Los Angeles metropolitan areas designing and renovating local residences and clients' second homes in various parts of the country. Her design portfolio includes commercial design work as well. She is married and the mother of three grown daughters and two beloved dogs.
